I’m sorry!

In an awkward situation or when wishing to apologize, people say ներողություն եմ խնդրում (neroghutyun em khndrum) — “I’m sorry!”



A thousand apologies!

When one feels truly at fault, people say հազար (անգամ) ներողություն (hazar [ankam] neroghutyun) — “A thousand apologies!”

The response here is: ինձանից ներողություն մի խնդրի, իրանից խնդրի (indzanits neroghutyun mi khndri, iranits khndri) — “Don’t apologize to me, apologize to her/him.”



Excuse me / Sorry!

One can say ներիր (nerir) or կերես (kneres) when addressing someone informally (“you”). — Կներես, Արս(են) ջան (Kneres, Ars[en] jan) — “Sorry, Ars[en] jan.”



Excuse me / Sorry!

One can say ներեցեք (nerets’ek) or կներեք (knerek) when addressing someone formally (“you”). 

— Եղավ, կներեք (Eghav, knerek) — “Alright, sorry.”
