Course information

By completing this course, you will be able to:

1. Develop reading and pronunciation skills
   – work with a limited set of material using 26 letters of the Armenian alphabet.

2. Gain knowledge of:
   – the structure of Armenian sentences;
   – punctuation marks and intonation patterns in Armenian;
   – the three-tier system of deixis in Armenian (compared to the two-tier system in languages such as English: “this / that”);
   – the specific use of the Armenian definite article (in contrast to English, French, German, and other languages).

3. Build your own sentences
   – form affirmative and negative statements;
   – ask questions correctly;
   – understand your interlocutor within a limited vocabulary of 200–250 words on topics such as “Me and My Family”, “Weather”, “Time and Calendar”, and similar themes.
