Armenian for Intermediate Learners

These courses are designed for learners who have already mastered the basics of Armenian grammar and core vocabulary.
They focus on developing confident spoken and written communication, expanding lexical range, and working with more complex grammatical structures.
At this stage, learners build the ability to use Armenian effectively in everyday, academic, and professionally oriented contexts.

Threshold B1(I)
Continuing/Intermediate Courses (B1-B2)

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

1.     improve your reading skills with adapted Armenian texts using a dictionary;

2.     acquire knowledge of:
• specific forms of expressing family and friendship ties in Armenian,
• ways of expressing emotions (from joy and congratulations to curses and expletives);

3.     develop the ability to:
• transform direct speech into indirect speech,
• engage in conversations on topics such as “home, apartment, furniture, interior,” “clothing and wardrobe items,” with a vocabulary of about 1,400 words.

Intermediate Armenian B1(II)
Continuing/Intermediate Courses (B1-B2)

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

1.     develop your reading skills with Armenian literary texts;

2.     acquire knowledge of:
• the moods and tenses of Armenian verbs used to express condition, consequence, concession, and more;

3.     develop the ability to:
• participate in conversations on topics such as “household and kitchen utensils,” “city life, transport, and travel,” with a vocabulary of about 1,800 words.

Vantage B2(I)
Continuing/Intermediate Courses (B1-B2)

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

1.     acquire reading skills for unadapted Armenian texts with the help of a dictionary;

2.     gain knowledge of:
• the formation of the past stem in Armenian verbs,
• the past simple tense and the imperative mood,
• vocabulary on the topic “the human body and face” for describing people’s appearance;

3.     develop the ability to:
• retell past events,
• express encouragement and prohibition,
• engage in intermediate-level conversations on literary and cultural topics,
• discuss leisure activities, tourism, and landmarks, with a vocabulary of about 2,300 words.

Upper-Intermediate Armenian B2(II)
Continuing/Intermediate Courses (B1-B2)

Upon completing this course, you will be able to:

1.     strengthen your reading skills with unadapted Armenian texts;

2.     acquire knowledge of:
• the Armenian pronoun system,
• the perfect tense and how it differs from the past simple,
• ways to make polite requests without using the word “please”;

3.     develop the ability to:
• discuss people’s character and life stories,
• talk about ethics at work, justice, and fairness,
• use a vocabulary of over 2,800 words.
